After graduating from Massey University in 2009, with a Bachelor of Design (Industrial) I practiced as a freelance designer and pushed myself to engage with small businesses and expand my network. From 2010 I took on a role with a hardware NZ startup which became an excellent learning opportunity into the product develop process. During my four and a half years with this startup, I undertook some post grad study of SME’s and entrepreneurialism within Australisia, through Massey University.

Coming from a startup that originated at Massey University’s E-centre and understanding more of that journey, I realised my passion lay more within the administrative realm of small – medium business and how you build something around the initial product or idea.

Since my additional study, I have completed an OE and came back to NZ where I had a swift introduction to the booming Auckland housing market. Working as a residential project coordinator for a flooring company, it was a pressurised, high pace role which left little room for error. It was commonplace to have a mobile call on hold, speaking on the landline, whilst drafting an email. An absolutely invaluable experience in troubleshooting and time management.

Blender Design offered me an Operations Manager position in 2017, which has since turned into a General Manager role as of 2019. I have been very fortunate to have received such a breadth of experience and love helping a dedicated team to make sense of all the undefined variables, surrounding all of the projects we undertake here. The product development process is always fulfilling, sometimes scary, but never dull. The most fulfilling part is seeing it all come together, when a client starts production of their product and seeing the relationships and networks that have been built with the team, over that course.
