That’s precisely what led us to design this battery operated IP camera (BPI Cam). The ODM needed a competitive advantage at multiple international trade shows where they will be showcasing. So Blender was tasked to transform an idea into working prototypes in only three weeks!

Setting Our Design Apart.

One of the challenges we had to work around was how we would fit the existing electronic hardware into the device. Like any other well-thought-out design project, we started with extensive research of design trends and the market around IP and security cameras. Our expert design team churned out over a hundred concept drawings.


Creating Uniqueness in Every Detail.

After exploring a variety of design concepts, the favourites were selected and the design evolved into a unique and practical product. We iterated the design over and over again, optimising the size and shape and every design detail to create a camera that sets itself apart from the rest of the market.

Foam mockups were used for quick and easy form studies to give the design team a sense of scale and something to hold and play with. Following that we rapidly designed in 3D CAD and solved the details for how the current hardware would fit into the housing. Numerous 3D printed prototypes were essential and helped us to refine design details, reduce the size of the product and optimise the fitment of the electronics and optical module.


Solutions that Set Our Camera Apart.

In the end, despite challenging design constraints, we delivered three fully working prototypes. These three working prototypes had a significant impact at all the tradeshows where they were displayed. This project shows that a team of passionate experts can transform an idea into a successful product in under three weeks.
