CHALLENGE
Bigger and bubblier.
Huski is well-known for the success of their wine and beer coolers but couldn’t cater to larger bottles of champagne and sparkling wine. Extensive research and customer feedback highlighted the demand for a solution that addressed the specific needs of sparkling wine drinkers who desire a more enjoyable and immersive experience without the hassle of returning to the fridge or dealing with messy ice buckets.
Traditional ice buckets can be cumbersome and don’t maintain optimal temperature for extended periods, compromising the quality of the drink. The goal was to create a product that preserves the effervescent character of sparkling wines and fits a wide range of bottle shapes without compromise.
As a well-established design partner to Huski, Blender was able to easily pick up the brief and adapt what we know about Huski products to develop a champagne cooler to fit seamlessly into the range.

APPROACH
A streamlined development program from proof of concept to manufacturing.
The strategy was not to ‘reinvent the wheel’ but to build on the things that Huski customers already love and find ways to make their experience even better. With the Huski Wine Cooler as the starting point, we focussed on creating the absolute best user experience specifically for sparkling wine drinkers.
This obsessive focus on the user experience led to the idea of incorporating a bottle stopper into the product. The much-loved Huski beer cooler with its removable bottle opener served as inspiration for locating the bottle stopper in the base of the Champagne Cooler.
Extensive research, testing and refinement ensured that both the cooler and the stopper were compatible with the wide range of bottles in the market.

“I love my new cooler. I must admit, I was a bit sceptical about how long it would keep my drink cold, but it worked. Very well. Also, of note, the bottle stopper that comes with the cooler is the best stopper I’ve ever had. I don’t know how the Huski team has done it, but my champagne was still fizzy after several days. Well done.” Anabelle G. Auckland
