CHALLENGE
Re-imagining the travel stroller.
The development of the Lucci stroller presented a unique design challenge: to redefine the travel stroller category while staying true to Edwards & Co’s design DNA. Inspired by founder Mark Edwards’ personal experiences of travelling with his children, the goal was to create a stroller that was as functional and comfortable as their larger models but compact and lightweight enough for seamless travel.
Blender was presented with a concept CAD model featuring an innovative new mechanism allowing the stroller to self-fold at the press of a button. While this technology set the foundation for an improved user experience, our challenge was to adapt it into a design that reflected the distinctive visual language of the Edwards & Co range.
Balancing form and function was key. The stroller had to deliver advanced portability and usability while maintaining the premium aesthetics and quality that Edwards & Co customers expect. Integrating the new mechanism into a compact frame required rigorous refinement to ensure that neither ergonomics nor core features were compromised.
APPROACH
Crafting the perfect travel companion.
The design process for the Lucci stroller was collaborative and iterative, leveraging Blender’s expertise in both conceptual design and detailed refinement. The concept CAD model was used as a framework to explore and sketch out modifications that aligned with Edwards & Co’s brief. This initial phase focused on reimagining the visual aesthetic to seamlessly integrate with the existing Edwards & Co product range, while maintaining the core functionality enabled by the new self-folding linkage system.
Blender worked closely with Edwards & Co to refine the design, considering every detail from extrusion profiles and joining elements to handles, footrests, and wheel designs. Usability was prioritised by identifying and optimising key touchpoints such as release buttons and grip locations to enhance the stroller’s intuitive operation.
Once a concept design was agreed upon, Blender worked closely on multiple iterations with the factory for integration into their CAD models. In areas where they encountered challenges, Blender was able to provide detailed CAD models, reinforcing the design direction and ensuring the desired quality and precision were achieved.
After prototyping, the product was audited and final modifications were made before the design was approved for tooling. Blender continued to support the project through the tooling process, assisting with minor refinements to ensure the final product met the highest standards. This hands-on, end-to-end approach allowed us to successfully deliver a travel stroller that embodies Edwards & Co’s brand promise.

At the heart of Lucci’s design is its revolutionary one-handed auto-fold mechanism, allowing parents to fold the stroller with a single motion. Once folded, it stands upright, making it incredibly portable and ergonomic. Weighing just 7.8kg, it’s lightweight yet sturdy. When folded down, it fits into airplane overhead lockers, complying with IATA guidelines for hassle-free travel.
Lucci is crafted to adapt to the needs of growing children. Whether your child is lying flat for a newborn nap or sitting upright to take in the sights, the seat provides optimal support. The three-position recline functionality ensures comfort at every stage, while the UPF50+ extendable canopy and full rear ventilation window offer protection and airflow, making it perfect for outings in any weather.
Practicality is also at the forefront of Lucci’s design. It boasts one of the largest storage baskets in its class, with an 8kg capacity, making it ideal for long days out. Built for durability and sustainability, the stroller features puncture-proof PU rubber wheels for a smooth ride and is crafted from GRS-certified recycled polyester fabric. Accessories like the Snack Tray, Cup Holder, Rain Cover, and Sun Covers add to its versatility, ensuring parents have everything they need to handle any adventure with ease.
Blender was instrumental in turning the concept into a game-changing product, bridging Edwards & Co and their factory with CAD refinements and precise design guidance. The result being an award-winning stroller design successfully launched into the market.
