Job Vacancies:

Senior Mechanical Engineer

About Blender

Innovation and product development is at the core of what we do! Established in 2006, Blender has achieved 7 placings at the Australian Good Design Awards, 3 Regional Finalist placings at the NZ Westpac Business awards and 16 placings at NZ’s own Best Design Awards. We have very collaborative relationships with our clients and support them to shape great ideas and move through production and procurement where needed. This collaboration between a great team and superb clients has allowed Blender to successfully form and implement growth strategies over the last few years, with an eye to the future. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about innovation, collaboration and sustainable design.

About the role

Your role as a Senior Mechanical Engineer will involve a range of critical problem solving tasks across a range of products. You will have a high degree of CAD design responsibility, as well as producing and reviewing drawings and specifications for prototyping and mass production. It is essential that you are well versed in Solidworks – which will be assessed during the interview process.

You must have demonstrable experience designing plastic injection moulded and electro-mechanical products; dealing with advanced surfaces, multibody assemblies and fine tolerances. You must also have experience using engineering analysis tools.

You must also possess exceptional communication skills, to allow you to communicate daily with our cross-cultural, cross-functional teams. As we are a consulting service, and this is a Senior role you are expected to build strong professional relationships with existing and new clients, maintaining projects and business development. Clear and direct communication with manufacturers will already be experience you possess.

Benefits and perks

Culture eats strategy for breakfast. We remember this adage and we take great pride in our workplace culture and environment. In doing so, we form a closely knit team that leverages our collective experience in supporting one another on project goals. It’s not a single horse race, but an expectation that we have each other’s backs. This is the internal collaboration that drives our success.

Based in Albany, we offer an updated, open-plan office with fruit, tea and coffee facilities (steam wand prowess viewed favourably), sit-stand desks, primary boardroom and a comfortable break-out room with a design-resource library. Having also expanded to the building next door, we double our staff parking space and physical amenities. Our prototyping workshop is well equipped and ever-expanding, with a specially built climate controlled 3D printing cabinet.

We actively encourage and fund professional development and offer very competitive salaries in line with your experience and ability.
